• Phone number, Name — used for account creation and authentication via OTP
• username, date of birth, gender — is OPTIONAL and can be set under User Profile
• Location (optional) — used to show locally relevant news; you may deny this permission

Information collected automatically

• Device identifiers — used by Google AdMob to serve relevant advertisements
• Usage data and analytics — including articles read, features used, and session information, collected via Firebase Analytics
• Push notification token — used to deliver news alerts

2. How We Use Your Information

• Authenticate and maintain your account
• Personalise your news feed and recommendations
• Deliver push notifications about breaking news
• Serve advertisements via Google AdMob
• Analyse app usage to improve the product

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — database and backend infrastructure (supabase.com/privacy)
• Google Firebase — analytics, push notifications, and authentication (firebase.google.com/support/privacy)
• Google AdMob — advertising (policies.google.com/privacy)

4. AI Features & Data Processing

Newspresso News includes an AI-powered News Assistant feature. When you use this feature:

• Your questions and the relevant news article context are sent to our backend for processing
• This data is used solely to generate a response to your query and is not used to train AI models
• We do not store your chat history beyond your active session
• Do not share sensitive personal information through the News Assistant

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us or via app.

6. Children's Privacy

Newspresso News is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

8. Advertising

We use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and other data to serve personalised ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
